Woodrow Wilson Sharp

Woodrow Wilson Sharp, age 88, of Cass, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at his home in Cass.
Mr. Sharp was a Methodist and was a skidder foreman for Mower Lumber Company
and also worked for Howes Leather Company.
He was born February 23, 1912, in Mingo County, the son of the late Eslie and Alice Gay Sharp.
Surviving him are his wife of 62 years, Lula Galford Sharp; four daughters, Linda Matheny, of Green Bank, Connie Sharp, of Red Oak, Texas, Helen Coleman, of Green Bank, and Leona Sharp, of Cass; six sons, Norman K. Sharp, of Dallas, Texas, James Sharp, of Cass, Paul Sharp, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Alvin Sharp and Steve Sharp, both of Crawfordville, Florida, and Ivan Sharp, of Grand Prairie, Texas; two brothers,
Meade Sharp and Hughes Sharp, both of Harrisonburg, Virginia;
twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday afternoon at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home
in Arbovale by the Rev. Julian Rittenhouse. Burial was in Hill Top Cemetery on the Back Mountain Road.

be in Hill Top Cemetery.

the funeral home.

Timothy Holcomb, Son of
Hezikiah and Susanna (Alderman) Holcomb was born in CT in 1755.
Timothy married Mary Griffin. He served as a private in the
Revolution and the family moved to Highland County VA about 1795
and later to Bath County. He is found in Bath County records
as late as 1840 so I have been told. He aslo settled
on the west side of beaverlick where he homestead 1900
acres and built five cabins in various places in
that area.He live just above Ginny Pile's Place,then the Poage
place,then the perry place then at the legget place and
also at the mouth Holcomb run,wich is now the Origen Underwood Place.

relating to the Town of Salisbury, Vol 1 (pg 143) Perhaps the most
remarkable thing about the Salisbury contingent in the American
forces was the number of commissioned officers it contained,

Dorchester, Massachusetts. In 1635, he removed
to Windsor, Connecticut and in 1639 to Poquonnock,
Connecticut where he died in 1657.
